Indian River County, FL

This is red root (my long thumbnail is for cutting plants, I always wear one on one of my thumbs that long).
 
This is red maple.
 
This and the one below are vegetated tussocks which are hydrologic indicators helping one identify wetlands.
(Those are kind of rare to see.) Of course the one bove is not exactly vegetated anymore.

This is a stinkin thistle. They take over pastureland if allowed, and have spikes usually.
